COVID-19 Catch-Up Premium
As part of the COVID Catch up fund made available to schools and colleges by the government, Cromwell Community College has been allocated additional funding to support the college and its pupils in providing high quality support and resources to help bridge any gaps in learning lost during time during lockdown. Significant investments have been made in from these funds in the following areas:
Tutoring and Mentoring
- A group of qualified teachers will provide small group tutoring to 1-3 pupils at a time in English, Maths, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, History and Geography.
- A Literacy Co-ordinator has been hired three days a week to work with those identified as having barriers to learning due to literacy.
- Holiday revision clubs will commence from February half term 2021 for examination groups.
- Additional funding has been allocated to our inclusion units helping to support our most vulnerable pupils.
- A bank of tablets have been ordered and delivered to pupils and families who were identified as requiring support to access online resources such as the internet, Microsoft Office and Teams.
- WiFi/4G connection devices have been provided to families unable to access the internet.
- A range of online/software resources to help support and bridge gaps in learning have been ordered such as EduCake, a KS3 retrieval and revision tool and Lingascope, an app that helps support and develop pupils in learning Modern Foreign Languages.
- A suite of webcams have been purchased to allow for distance learning to take place in school
- Where curriculums have needed to be amended, departments have been allocated additional funds to purchase equipment required to deliver successfully. Examples of this include a bank of percussion instruments called Boomwhackers to allow practical Music to continue, a number of visualisers to allow staff in English to annotate key sections of work while teaching and additional printed resources in Maths to allow for regular retrieval of learning.
- Many subjects have benefitted from knowledge organisers, revision guides, text books and work books being purchased and shared with exam groups. These have been common in subjects such as Maths, Science, History, Geography, Ethics, Business, Social Sciences and Sports Studies.
- A range of physical resources to assist in delivery of amended curriculums and the delivery of high quality teaching and learning.
