16-19 Bursary fund

There are two types of bursary:

Discretionary Bursary 

  • Any amount up to £1,200 per year

Students that meet the criteria are:

  • Aged under 19 at the start of the academic year for studying at the college
  • Any pupil whose family income is less than £25,000 (evidence will need to be provided)

Vulnerable Bursary

  • £1,200 per year

Students that meet the criteria are:

  • Aged under 19 at the start of the academic year for studying at the college
  • Young people in care or who have recently left care
  • Disabled young people in receipt of employment support allowance, disability allowance or personal independence payment.
  • Young people claiming income support or universal credit

 What can the money be used for?

The funds offered could be use for costs related to a course such as:

  • Uniform and equipment for study
  • Books
  • Transport
  • Exam fees
  • College Meals
  • Trips and Visits

Conditions of the Bursary

The following criteria must be met before the bursary is received:

  • Exemplary behavior
  • Expected attendance of 100% (minimum of 95% - including all lessons and study periods)
  • Adhering to the dress code

 How do I apply?

Applications should be submitted on or before the first day of autumn term.
